Ken Sampson was a respected community leader in northern Victoria. Following his untimely death in 2009, friends and colleagues (including many Fairley Fellows) recently launched the Sampson Leadership Trust to honour Ken.  By giving to the Trust you will keep the memory and ideals of Ken Sampson alive while helping to educate inspirational young leaders.

Scholarship

Beginning in 2010, the Sampson Leadership Trust will award an annual scholarship to an outstanding young person studying or working in the fields of the environment, agriculture, water, sustainability, climate change, leadership or politics. 

The size and future of the scholarship will depend on the generosity of Ken’s friends and colleagues. The goal is to raise $100,000 to be kept in Trust to fund a $5000 annual scholarship.

The scholarship will be provided to a person aged 30 or under either residing in the Goulburn Murray Irrigation District or undertaking study or a project of benefit to the region.

Applicants undertaking Graduate and Post graduate studies and further study such as research, overseas tours and conferences will be considered for the scholarship along with those already working in a relevant field.

The scholarship will be funded by the people and organisations that Ken was associated with in his distinguished career in agricultural extension and natural resource management and his numerous community involvements.  Money raised will be held in Trust and the successful candidate will be selected annually by a panel appointed for the purpose.
